Steve: Anita, we're in luck! There's a painting in there, a landscape.

It's a good one. I thought it might be valuable, so I took a good

look at the signature. It isn't very clear, but I think it may be a

Winslow Homer.

Anita: A Winslow Homer?! It can't be! They're all in museums. They're

worth a fortune!

Steve: Well, someone found one a couple of years ago. This might be

another one. It's dirty, and it isn't in very good condition.

Anita: How much do you think it's worth?

Steve: I don't know, maybe a million; it might even be worth more!

Anita: Be careful, Steve. We'd better use the old trick.

Steve: Yeah, right. There's a chair in the window. It must be worth

about $20. I'll offer a hundred bucks for it. She'll be so happy that

she won't think about the painting.

Anita: Don't say you want the painting; say you want the frame. OK?

Steve: Fine, you'd better wait in the van. I'd rather do this on my

own.

Anita: Uh... Steve, check the signature before you give her a hundred

bucks for the chair.
